Broin name change to POET complete

April 20, 2007 - by Dana Childs, Cleantech Group

Ethanol producer POET, formerly known as Broin Companies, has completed its name change by announcing that all 26 of its ethanol production facilities have changed their names to POET Biorefining.

With the addition of the plants, the 32 entities that made up the Broin Companies have now been united under the POET brand as the largest dry-mill ethanol producer in the U.S.

POET President & CEO Jeff Broin said the change will strengthen their communications and more clearly represent their position in the ethanol industry.

“The 32 entities that comprise POET have always operated as one,” said Broin.

Nineteen POET biorefining facilities currently in production provide more than 800 jobs and have an annual production capacity of more than 950 million gallons of ethanol per year.

In addition, POET has seven plants that are in construction or development.

POET is a leader in the bio-refining industry through project development, design and construction, research and development, plant management and marketing. The company has been in business twenty years.
