Berlin-based Solon said today it received a contract to deliver several power plant systems in Spain with a total output of 36 megawatts.
Solon, a manufacturer of solar modules and photovoltaic systems, said the deal with an unnamed European financial investor is for projects on the Spanish mainland and on the Balearic islands.
The company said the implementation phase of the projects will start in the fourth quarter of this year, with work expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2009.
Solon said further agreements have been reached with the same customer to supply solar power systems for other projects in Spain with a total power output of 14 MW.
The company said that since the launch of its Solon Mover solar modules product in 2005, it has supplied systems with a combined power output of more than 20 MW in various regions of Spain.
Solon has projects with a combined power output of more than 13 MW currently under construction.
The company, which has more than 500 employees, manufacturers solar modules and supplies photovoltaic systems for large-scale solar power stations.
Last month, Solon announced that it would begin manufacturing operations at a 100,000 square foot facility in Tucson, Ariz., in late 2007 (see Germany's Solon establishes U.S. operations in Tucson).
