Day4 Energy to expand with new plant

April 17, 2008 - by David Ehrlich, Cleantech Group

Burnaby, British Columbia-based Day4 Energy (TSX: DFE), a solar module manufacturer, announced today that it secured over 90,000 square feet of production space as part of a plant to boost its capacity.

The company said it expects to increase its production to 90 megawatts by the end of 2008.

"The signing of this lease for our newest manufacturing line signifies that we are well underway to achieving our growth objectives for this year," said George Rubin, president and COO of Day4 Energy.

Day4 Energy said the first phase of its expansion would increase annual capacity to 40 MW, up from 12 MW, by the end of the second quarter, with the second phase set to hit the 90 MW target in the fourth quarter.

Rubin said "the advanced technology is ready for scale up and our sales and marketing efforts have created the base for rapid growth in our market presence on both sides of the Atlantic."

The company said the new facility would manufacture its highly efficient Day4 48 MC solar module based its Day4 Electrode technology.

Day4 said its proprietary method of contacting and interconnecting solar cells replaces older soldering methods and offers durability and cost efficiency benefits over other solar modules.
