Baltimore Gas, ICF in energy efficiency contracts

September 3, 2008 - by David Ehrlich, Cleantech Group

Fairfax, Va.-based ICF International (Nasdaq: ICFI) announced today that its ICF Resources unit received two contracts from Baltimore Gas and Electric to support energy efficiency programs at the utility.

Baltimore Gas and Electric is a subsidiary of Baltimore's Constellation Energy Group (NYSE: CEG).

Under the contracts, which have a combined value of over $50 million, ICF will provide advisory and implementation services for Baltimore Gas and Electric's Residential and Small Commercial Conservation Program, and for BGE's Large Industrial and Commercial Conservation Program.

"Winning these BGE contracts demonstrates ICF's successful track record in not only designing quality energy efficiency programs, but also in effectively implementing these large scale programs," said Sudhakar Kesavan, chairman and CEO of ICF.

Over the next several months, ICF said it will assist BGE with the design and filing with the Maryland Public Service Commission for the Large Industrial and Commercial energy efficiency program and supplemental filing with the PSC of the Residential and Small Commercial program.

ICF said the detailed program design and program implementation will start after the commission approves the programs.

In February, BGE signed a deal with Waukesha, Wis.-based Cooper Power Systems for a peak demand reduction system for its residential customers (see Cooper Power, Baltimore Gas in demand management contract). Cooper Power, a unit of Houston's Cooper Industries (NYSE: CBE), said it expects the project to represent $42 million in revenue over the 2008 to 2011 period.
