Fill 'er up: Amyris presents its vat of microbes

 

Amyris Biotechnologies opened its first pilot plant in California today, with another scheduled to open in the spring in Brazil. 

The plant is expected to produce biodiesel from sugarcane using synthetic biology to reprogram microbes.
