Suntech signs 115 MW supply deal with enXco

November 4, 2009 - by Lisa Sibley, Cleantech Group

Wuxi, China-based Suntech Power Holdings said today it signed an agreement to provide a subsidiary of Paris-based EDF Energies Nouvelles (EPA:EE), enXco, up to 115 megawatts of photovoltaic modules in 2010.

The supply agreement is expected to allow enXco to execute on its growing portfolio of 2010 projects in the United States and Canada for rooftop and ground mounted utility-scale projects. Financial details were not disclosed.

Suntech's Chief Strategic Officer Steven Chan said in a news release that "continuously leading solar innovations and delivering the most cost effective solutions are key elements of the partnership."

Chan also said Suntech (NYSE:STP) is looking forward to expanding the sales agreement with enXco.

Escondido, Calif.-based enXco develops, constructs and manages renewable energy projects throughout the United States, with an emphasis on large-scale wind projects, as well as solar and biomass technologies.

In 2008, Green Bay, Wis.-based Wisconsin Public Service, a Integrys Energy Group subsidiary, signed a deal to acquire a 99-MW Iowa wind farm from enXco for $251 million (see Integrys to buy Iowa wind farm from EDF for $251M).

PV module manufacturer Suntech designs and delivers commercial and utility scale solar power systems in China and the United States. In September, the company completed and connected a 10 MW utility-scale solar power project to the grid in China (see Suntech launches 10 MW utility-scale solar project in China).
