Montreal-based Group LaPierre & Verrault, known as GL&V, has secured $26m CDN in new water treatment contracts around the world as a result of recent acquisitions.
The largest contract, for over $5 million, is for the installation of a wastewater treatment system in Canada, to be completed by June 2009. Its Water Treatment Group was also awarded several large orders totalling approximately $9 million in the United States, close to $6 million in Asia and around $6 million in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Many of the orders in the United States are for the submerged membrane technology (MBR) for municipal wastewater treatment.
"Thanks to the acquisition of Enviroquip in June 2006, GL&V is progressively building a significant business base in this market segment in the U.S," said out Richard Verreault, President and Chief Operating Officer of GL&V.
The Water Treatment Group also received two major orders in the Asian municipal market: one in Singapore and the other in Thailand. The latter, worth close to $5 million, is for an advanced wastewater treatment system including clarifiers, a bioreactor and a microflotation system based on technologies acquired from Metso in January 2006, as well as ancillary equipment.
This contract is scheduled for delivery by March 2008.
Copa Group companies, acquired by GL&V in October 2006, also contributed to grow the Water Treatment Group's order backlog by landing significant contracts in England, Ireland and Australia, which will be finalized in 2007.
The company recently closed five acquisitions within 18 months.
Founded in 1975, GL&V is a world leader in liquid/solid separation technologies used in a large number of industrial, municipal and environmental processes. Its Water Treatment Group specializes in the development and marketing of equipment for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater, drinking water and process water used in various industrial processes, as well as water intake screening solutions for power stations and refineries.
GL&V is present in 40 countries on six continents and has approximately 2,400 employees.
