For the life of me, I can't understand why the thermal solar guys are always talking about night time storage. I can tell that none of them have ever fished. Ever morning that I go fishing the hydro electric dams start putting out millions of gallons of water as soon as 10:00 comes. This is because we use a heck of alot more energy during the day than we do at night. We need solar power because it fits our time of use pattern and we need peaking power. We don't need to waste money adding solar storage to thermal plants. For god sake the utilites pay people to reduce the power when the sun comes up. We need to use that money (there using on storage) to add more solar. It will take along time before we hit the point were we actually have replaced all of the existing hydro plants with solar. Stop wasting time and money on thermal storage...Go fishing instead.
