While some companies in the small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear sector announced key deals with technology providers in 2024, fusion also saw a significant increase in investment buoyed by the need to generate energy for data centers and for wider energy consumption. Over $1.6B venture dollars were committed to fusion in 2024 across a wide range of approaches. Although in the near term, fusion remains further along the commercialization pathway than SMRs, the potential to generate carbon-free, baseload energy with little radioactive waste makes fusion attractive to many investors.
This webinar will:
• Review the fusion systems that have seen significant investment the past few years, highlighting companies, breakthroughs, and strategic partnerships shaping the industry
_
• Explore advances in magnetic confinement, inertial confinement, and an increasing number of emerging alternative approaches that are aiming towards commercializing fusion technology
_
• Uncover drivers and challenges for the fusion industry as a whole and for different approaches to fusion
