SwarmFarm Robotics, provider of tailored solutions that allow for autonomous and precision farming using robots, raised $3.2 million in seed funding from Tenacious Ventures, Artesian and Queensland Business Development Fund. The new funding will be used to develop its engineering and technical teams, as well as accelerate robot production. The start-up offers a SwarmConnectÔ platform that enables programming and customization of the robots.
Energy & Power
iWin, a start-up developing windows with an integrated photovoltaic venetian-blind that can convert building facades into producers of renewable energy, has won $163,000 in seed funding from Venture Kick after acceleration from its program. The funding will be used to develop a minimum viable product.
Materials & Chemicals
3DBattery and NEI Corporation have partnered for a joint research project funded by a $900,000 grant from the BIRD Energy Program, a joint organization between the United States and Israel.
The two companies will collaborate on the integration of an advanced
anode material with a water-based electrode formation process, for the development of low-cost, high performance lithium-ion batteries.
Resources & Environment
Entocycle, developer of a technology and management system that converts food waste into insect biomass, is leading a $12.9 million project to build a facility that rears insects in the millions, for use as animal feedstock in aquaculture and pet food industries. The program is funded by the UK government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) and will bring other companies and corporates onto the project.
Transportation & Logistics
Einride, developer of autonomous electric transport vehicles with remote monitoring and operation capabilities, raised $10 million in Series A funding from Norrsken Foundation, EQT Ventures, NordicNinja and Ericsson. This funding will enable continued development of Einride’s autonomous trucking platform and help maintain its momentum.
