Agriculture & Food

China-based fresh produce online grocer, Dingdong, raised $300 million in a growth equity round as investor interest in delivery solutions increases amid the Covid-19 crisis. The round was led by General Atlantic, with other details not made public. With an asset-heavy business model, Dingdong offers reduced delivery times which is contributing to its recent rise in popularit. With this funding round, Dingdong plans to extend its services to northern China markets and expand its warehouse facilities.

Energy & Power

Span, developer of a smart electrical panel and control app for home energy management, raised $10.2 million in a Series A round from investors including ArcTern Ventures, Capricorn Investment Group, Incite Labs, Congruent Ventures, Ulu Ventures, Wells Fargo Strategic Capital, Wireframe Ventures,and 1/0 Capital. The funding will be used to further develop Span’s products to optimize solar, energy storage and EV charging systems integration, and to expand across the United States.

Materials & Chemicals

Checkerspot, developer of high-performance bio-manufactured materials, raised $32.9 million in a Series B round disclosed through regulatory filing. It recently launched its first set of products of new generation polyurethanes and textile coatings/finishes developed from microalgae. Previous investors include Breakout Ventures, KdT Ventures, Builders Fund, and Plug and Play Ventures amongst others.

Resources & Environment

Grove Collaborative, provider of eco-friendly home essentials products, raised $89.9 million in a growth equity round, disclosed through regulatory filing. Together with previous growth funding from investors including General Atlantic, Norwest Venture Partners and Greenspring Associates amongst other, Grove aims to expand the line of products offered and further adopt sustainable packaging and supply chain solutions.

Transportation & Logistics

Wallbox, developer of smart EV and plug-in hybrids charging solutions for domestic and business use, raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Seaya Ventures, with existing investors Endeavor Catalyst and Iberdrola Ventures – PERSEO also taking part. The funding will be used in R&D and technology innovation efforts as well as for expansion into international markets such as China and North America.
