John Bissell

Emily Hanson

Ms. Hanson is responsible for all aspects of GreenWaste’s business development and community and governmental relations including public, private, and nonprofit sector partnerships, developing winning bid proposals, negotiating contracts, and facilitating smooth operational transitions. Prior to coming to GreenWaste, Ms. Hanson was the Executive Director of two non-profit organizations in the fields of agricultural resource conservation and affordable housing.  Ms. Hanson received a B.A. in Politics and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz and is pursuing her J.D. from Santa Clara University, School of Law (exp. 2020).

Matt Jones

Matt is the Managing Director for North America at Solvay Ventures. He has spent his career at the intersection of start-ups and large corporations seeking to foster innovation for a profitable and sustainable future. Matt’s mission is to identify, analyze and create investment or collaboration opportunities between start-ups and Solvay.

Before joining Solvay, Matt spent 15 years at Nth Power, a cleantech venture capital investment firm in San Francisco, including 9 years as Partner. He subsequently became an entrepreneur, founding an e-commerce company focused on helping households convert to LED lighting. He has extensive experience as a venture capital investor with various technologies and business models, with an emphasis on power generation, energy storage, and transportation.

Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis and an MBA from Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Miranda Wang

Miranda Wang is an entrepreneur, environmental advocate, and inventor. She is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of BioCellection Inc, an innovation company that turns unrecyclable plastic waste into valuable chemicals. With BioCellection, she brings together key stakeholders in the waste management and recycling space, jurisdictions, and corporations seeking improved sustainability to solve the plastic pollution crisis. She has raised over $5M in investments from funders such as Marc Benioff, The City of San Jose, GreenWaste Recovery, Schmidt Marine Technology Partners, and Elemental Excelerator. She is a Rolex Awards for Enterprise Laureate, Forbes 30 Under 30, Echoing Green Climate Fellow, United Nations Young Champion of the Earth, Pritzker Environmental “Genius” Prize Winner, and winner of the Wharton Business Plan Competition, and the Westly Prize. She received her Bachelor of Arts in cell and molecular biology, philosophy, and engineering entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania.

Luna Yu

Genecis is solving the climate crises of organic waste and plastic pollution with one circular economy solution: bioplastic made from food waste. Genecis’ technology converts organic waste into PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoate), a biodegradable, compostable, and non-toxic polymer that can be tuned to replace a wide variety of traditional plastics. PHA can be used for single-use plastics, clothing and textiles, automotive interiors, medical tools and products, and food contact applications. By using organic waste for PHA production, Genecis’ process is lower-cost and lower-emission than competitors’, offering a circular economy solution for waste valorization and sustainable product development. Genecis partners with companies interested in using PHA in their supply chains, offering custom polymer and product development and co-branding.
