Agriculture & Food 

Remilk, developer of an animal-free dairy alternative using fermentation processes, raised $120 million in Series B funding from Tnuva, Tal Ventures, Rage Capital, Precision Capital Advisors, Paradigm Shift Fund, OurCrowd, Izaki Ventures, Hochland, Hanaco Venture Capital, fresh.fund, CPT Capital and Chartered Group. Remilk uses yeasts to produce milk proteins, which are then combined with non-animal fat and sugar to develop milk-based products. Funding will go towards commercializing its products in 2022. The new round of funding values the company at $325 million. 

Energy & Power 

Viridi Parente, manufacturer of renewable power systems for heavy machinery and storage applications, raised $95 million in growth equity from Tom Golisano, Ashtead Group/Sunbelt Rentals and National Grid Partners (NGP). The company has developed a battery pack technology that can be used as stationary point-of-use storage technology and can be retrofitted into heavy machinery. Viridi Parente aims to use the funding to manufacture lithium-ion battery storage solutions at scale. Company is now valued at $700 million.  

 

Materials & Chemicals 

Mycoworks, producer of leather grown from mycelium and agricultural byproducts in a carbon-negative process, secured $125 million in growth funding from Prime Movers Lab, SK Capital Partners, Innovation Fund, Mirabaud and other undisclosed existing and new investors. The company’s biotechnology platform manufacturers order to specifications. Funding to go towards the development of a production plant in South Carolina, US to scale-up manufacturing, for creating products at a range of prices.  

 

 

Resources & Environment 

RoadRunner Recycling, developer of end-to-end solutions to optimize recycling using machine learning, raised $70 million in growth equity from General Atlantic and BeyondNetZero. The company gathers data insights using machine learning to predict and match industries with volume and type of waste, thereafter developing optimized waste collection and recycling plans. Funding will help expand to and maintain operations in 40+ US states, as well as further develop its machine learning based analytics platform. 

 

Transportation & Logistics 

Project44, developer of logistics software that connects transportation operations in the supply chain, raised $420 million equity from Thoma Bravo, TPG Capital, Goldman Sachs, Emergence Capital, Insight Partners, Chicago Ventures, Generation Investment Management, Sapphire Ventures and Sozo Ventures. The logistics software help optimize operations by assessing risks from weather, traffic, and other bottlenecks to deliver supply chain visibility. Company is now valued at $2.4 billion.
