Upside Foods, developer of technology to produce meat, poultry and seafood grown from animal cells, raised $400 million in growth equity from Norwest Venture Partners, SoftBank Vision Fund, IndieBio, EDBI, Baillie Gifford, Bill Gates, CPT Capital, Cargill, Dentsu Ventures, SALT Fund, Cercano Management, Givaudan, Synthesis Capital, Tyson Foods, Abu Dhabi Growth Fund, Temasek Holdings, Givaudan and Synthesis Capital. Funding to go towards developing commercial facilities as well as develop supply chain for raw materials. 

Energy & Power 

1KOMMA5°, provider of software-enabled DER installation and deployment services, raised $217 million in Series A funding from eCAPITAL Entrepreneurial Partners, btov Partners, Porsche Ventures, EURAZEO, Haniel, Schuerfeld and Blue Elephant Capital. The company plans to further develop its energy IoT platform, integrating the buying and installation all of its products and services. Reportedly, the start-up has already installed over 35,000 carbon-neutral energy systems.  

Materials & Chemicals  

Natural Fiber Welding, developer of plant-based textile fiber alternatives, raised $85 million in Series B funding from Evolution VC Partners, Tattarang, Lewis & Clark AgriFood, Collaborative Fund, AiiM Partners, Engine No.1, Raga Partners, Tidal Impact, Scrum Ventures, Gaingels MyCo, BMW i Ventures, Ralph Lauren, Advantage Capital Partners and Central Illinois Angels. The company plans to continue expanding its circular materials platform and meet increasing demand in various markets.  

Resources & Environment 

Crusoe Energy Systems, Developer of carbon-negative cloud computing platform powered by stranded energy such as flare gas and curtailed renewables, secured $350 million in growth equity from Founders Fund, Bain Capital Ventures, Polychain, Mitsui & Co, CMT Digital Ventures, Exor Seeds, Felicis Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, Winklevoss Capital, Castle Island Ventures, LowerCarbon Capital, G2VP, Zigg Capital, DRW Venture Capital, Upper90, FootPrint Coalition, My Climate Journey Collective (MCJC), Tao Capital, Inclusive Capital Partners and Engine No.1. The company aims to expand its Digital Flare Mitigation technology platform in the United States and internationally. Crusoe also raised $155 million structured debt.   

Transportation & Logistics 

Tive, developer of sensors solutions for the optimization of supply chains, raised $54 million in Series B funding from AXA Venture Partners, Sorenson Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Fifth Wall, SJF Ventures, Floating Point Ventures, RRE Ventures, Two Sigma Ventures, NextView Ventures, Hyperplane Venture Capital, Broom Ventures and Supply Chain Ventures. The company is to develop more supply chain visibility solutions, grow its sales & marketing team and expand its geographical reach.
