Industry-leading ranking recognizes leading innovation companies in clean technology in the Asia Pacific region
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – September 21, 2018
Cleantech Group (CTG) released its inaugural APAC 25 list, ahead of our upcoming Cleantech Forum Asia on November 13-14, 2018. The APAC 25 is a new sister list of the Global Cleantech 100 program, made possible by the support of Enterprise Singapore.
Like its parent program the Global Cleantech 100, the APAC 25 seeks to provide a reading of which private and independent companies, and types of sustainable innovation companies, are catching the attention of those in the market, and which they believe are most likely to have significant impact in a 5-10-year time frame.
The list of 25 came together through the combination of the APAC-related inputs from the annual Global Cleantech 100 process (as described on the methodology page) with the specific inputs we asked of an APAC 25 expert panel. To qualify for the APAC 25, just as in the Global Cleantech 100, companies must be independent, for-profit companies not listed on any major stock exchange.
A complete list of the 2018 APAC 25 companies can be found here. Cleantech Group has also provided its own commentary on the list here.
“The APAC 25 provides us with a representative cross-section of the variety of sustainable innovation companies in the Asia Pacific region. For me, the list speaks to China’s lead role in the future of the global transportation industry. It also showcases a range of solutions needed for different industrial problems for economies in different stages of development, and it illustrates that smart application of digital technologies is a universal phenomenon,” said Richard Youngman, CEO of Cleantech Group. “Most interesting of all in my mind is the potential I see for so-called ‘reverse innovation,’ whereby solutions for the developing world transfer over time to the so-called developed world. Interesting times.”
Members of our expert panel play an important role in how the APAC 25 list comes together. Each provides a minimum of three (maximum of nine) nominations, no more than a third of which can be portfolio companies (in the case of investors). Expert panelists can weight their nominations to indicate their relative strength, and all nominations are blind (no expert sees any of the other panelists’ nominations). These nominations are then combined with the outcomes from our Global Cleantech 100 process, which itself benefits from thousands of data points.
The complete list of APAC 25 expert panel members is available here.
Four of the APAC 25 are already confirmed to be among the 35 companies who will feature in the two-day program of Cleantech Forum Asia in Singapore on November 13-14 2018. More may follow.
