Standout Fundraising Achievement of the Year 2019 Awarded to Ynsect for Pioneering Efforts in Sustainable Animal Feed

Stockholm, Sweden 22 May 2019

In recognition that all industries must transform to survive in a digitized, de-carbonized and resource-efficient future, Cleantech Group has named Ynsect its Standout Fundraising Achievement of the Year 2019 award winner.  Cleantech Group looked at the twelve months from March 2018 to March 2019 to find a company active in clean technology in the Europe and Israel region whose fundraising achievement stood out to Cleantech Group’s analysts for any combination of its audacity or its novelty, its impressive execution or the quality of its syndicate, or its pioneering and example-setting nature.

Why Ynsect?

The award highlights Ynsect’s recent $125 million investment round, to build the world’s biggest insect farm in Europe. This is a great example of a European company that’s pioneering a solution to a global problem – high-quality, more sustainable animal feed produced at competitive costs.

“We are delighted to make this award to a non-energy company, reinforcing our message that all industries must reinvent themselves to survive and thrive in the 21st century”, said Richard Youngman, CEO Cleantech Group. “As Europe’s largest ever early-stage agtech investment round, it speaks to the idea that solutions for global problems can come from anywhere and be funded anywhere. The industrial innovation domain is not the preserve of Silicon Valley. Far from it.”

The award forms part of the series Cleantech Group has been running since 2002 to celebrate the achievements of companies, investors and individuals.
